u4gm Path of Exile 2 Infernalist Exploding Minions Guide

If you’re heading into Path of Exile 2’s Rise of the Abyssals league, I’ve got to say, the Witch Infernalist minion setup is something else. It’s not the usual “spam skills until your hand aches” type of gameplay. This is more like directing chaos from the backline while your undead crew does the dirty work. You’ve got Skeletal Arsonists turning mobs into ash and spectral bombers blowing chunks out of the screen. Honestly, it feels like you’re in command of a fiery demolition team. I’ve played summoners before, but this one’s got such a punch that you’ll want to stock up on PoE 2 Currency just to keep upgrading it as far as it’ll go.

The Infernalist ascendancy really drives this build. Unholy Might gives your minions a nasty chaos damage boost, so they cut through packs like they’re paper. You’ll hit a bit of mana strain early on thanks to Necromantic Conduit, but that’s sorted with a few passives into sustain. Once Pain Offering is running, the damage goes way up. For your core army, Skeletal Arsonists linked with Minion Damage and Feeding Frenzy keep enemies constantly under fire. When you hit bosses or tough rares, you pull out your Bound Spectre setup and slot in Vaal Guard Bombers — they hit hard and fast. Skeletal Brutes bring the Intimidate debuff for extra edge, and Skeletal Frost Mages can drop the damage output of threats when things get messy.

When setting up your passive tree, grab the obvious minion life and damage nodes from the Witch’s area first. You’ll want Profane Commander and Relentless Fallen early on — they’re basically non-negotiable. After that, you move into Spirit and mana sustain, so you can keep the army rolling without downtime. Later in the game, shifting into Energy Shield investments turns you into a pretty tough commander to bring down, even if things do spill past your minions. As for jewels, any combination of minion damage, chaos damage, or those juicy +1 Maximum Spectre bonuses will push your damage up without breaking the budget.

Gear is easy at first. A cheap sceptre with +1 to Level of all Minion Skill Gems and a solid life/resist chest piece is enough to carry you well into maps. Over time, Bones of Ullr boots give extra Spirit for more summons, and an Enfolding Dawn amulet boosts your Arsonists nicely. Endgame targets can include Ventor’s Gamble rings for big Spirit gains and a Darkness Enthroned belt to stack abyss jewels. Always get your resistances capped, then push minion gem levels and damage bonuses for the extra power spikes.

The actual playstyle’s the best part. You’re flying through maps, and packs vanish before you even hit the edge of the screen. Boss fights are straightforward — curses like Despair go down, Pain Offering goes up, the minions swarm in, and the health bar falls off a cliff. Once you’ve felt the satisfaction of a chain of explosions leveling the map, it’s hard to go back to anything else. I wouldn’t be surprised if you find yourself browsing divine orbs for sale just to keep pushing this build into the stratosphere.
